Books and Books again

As a full time house wife, a mom and a caregiver in this house i have a luxurious time to indulge myself to the max with books whenever there is a time given.

Hold and read a deniable good book is an indescribable kind of satisfaction for me. However, since the end of Ramadan, I’ve been hit by quite a serious reading slump. To pick up my momentum again, I had to switch to a lighter genre.

At first, I tried to finish Tok Alang, a horror novel. But I could only read it during the day. At night, what Tok Alang, Pak Deris, Pak Usop, and Firdaus went through felt too intense for me to handle. There were only a few pages left, yet I had to put it on hold for a while.

Then I moved on to Daleggut: Pedagang Mimpi Klite, but once again, I struggled. The storyline felt too dragged out and ended up making me sleepy.

Finally, I turned to Qaid, my “green” novel. Alhamdulillah, this was where I manage to break out of my reading slump. The writer succeeded in capturing my focus again, even though there were a few scenes that felt a bit unrealistic.

So, this year, it feels like I haven’t been reading seriously at all—simply because I keep jumping from one genre to another at the same time. And as if that wasn’t enough, I keep adding more and more books to my TBR list.

Most recently, I found myself defeated once again—this time by a piece of Japanese literature translated into Bahasa Malaysia titled I Am a Cat. The simplicity of the title drew me in, and I couldn’t resist it.

As a result, my TBR collection continues to grow… and grow.
